Vasilios Tasikas

Captain Tasikas joined The Griffin Law Firm in October 2026. He brings to the Firm a 34-year career with the U.S. Coast Guard, serving as an enlisted member, commissioned officer, and civilian. His legal practice focuses on federal employment law, representing federal employees in discrimination complaints, adverse actions, retaliation claims, and related federal administrative matters.

Captain Tasikas's last assignment on active duty was as Chief of the Office of Military Justice, where he managed a nationwide military justice program of 235 practitioners. He served as the Coast Guard's representative and voting member on the Joint Service Committee on Military Justice, where he drafted Presidential amendments to the Manual for Courts-Martial. His legal background also includes assignments as Senior Government Appellate Counsel, Advanced Operational Law Fellow, and Naval Justice School Instructor. After retiring from active duty in 2022, he served four years as the Coast Guard's Legislative Counsel.

An experienced operational commander, Captain Tasikas spent nearly ten years at sea on four cutters, commanding both CGC MACKINAW (WLBB 30) and CGC MOBILE BAY (WTGB 103). He also completed two wartime deployments, serving as Officer-in-Charge of the Detainee Legal Operations Center at Camp Bucca, Iraq, during Operation Iraqi Freedom, and as an operational law attorney in Kabul, Afghanistan, during Operation Enduring Freedom.

Captain Tasikas graduated summa cum laude from the State University of New York at Buffalo, earned his J.D. from Indiana University School of Law, and holds an LL.M. in Military Law from The Judge Advocate General's Legal Center and School. He also earned a master's degree from the Marine Corps War College. He is admitted to practice in Ohio and before the United States Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces and the Supreme Court of the United States. His practice outside Ohio is limited to federal matters that do not implicate state law.
