Matthew Cardellino

Of Counsel

Mr. Matthew Cardellino

Currently a Lieutenant Commander in the U.S. Navy Reserves, Mr. Cardellino served as an Active-Duty JAG for 8 years, focusing primarily on criminal litigation. He graduated from the University of Pittsburgh in 2005 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History. Prior to earning his law degree, Mr. Cardellino served as an Infantry Officer in the U.S. Army. He deployed as a Platoon Leader with 2nd Battalion, 16th Infantry Regiment in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, and also served as an Assistant Operations Officer with both the 193rd Brigade, and 1-111th Stryker Battalion out of Plymouth Meeting, PA. Mr. Cardellino received his J.D. in 2013 from Temple University’s Beasley School of Law.

After joining the Navy JAG Corps in 2014, Mr. Cardellino developed significant experience in both San Diego and Norfolk, the two largest fleet concentration areas in the Navy, proudly defending Sailors, Marines, and Coastguardsmen accused of a variety of crimes, including but not limited to sexual assault, rape, fraud, theft, sexual harassment, and drug offenses. Never one to shy away from a fight, he consistently delivered dynamic and effective representation, securing multiple positive outcomes for his clients across the board. He also served as a Victims’ Legal Counsel, representing victims of sexual assault and domestic violence in the military justice system. He deftly guided his clients through challenging processes and helped to give them a voice in an adversarial criminal justice system that traditionally doesn’t acknowledge or allow for a victim’s right to be heard. Mr. Cardellino possesses an ironclad commitment to continuing his legacy of dedicated service on behalf of clients, and will readily bring his passion, energy, and discipline to bear on their behalf.

Mr. Cardellino was selected for the Navy’s Military Justice Career Track in 2018 and is a member of the American, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey Bar Associations. He is certified to practice before Courts Martial across the services, and admitted to practice in Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
